The newspaper and e-edition will only be published on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, while daily coverage continues online. The newspaper previously stopped publishing a Monday edition on December 22, 2008, when it was owned by Sun Media.

The Local News Map

After acquiring the newspaper from SaltWire Network earlier in the month, Postmedia announced on August 21, 2024, that the daily paper would become a weekly paper beginning with the August 30, 2024, edition. Four of the newspaper’s 13 newsroom jobs were also eliminated. Daily news continues to be published online. Previously, SaltWire Network had cut the Monday print editions of its daily newspapers, including The Telegram, effective October 17, 2022. Before that, the Sunday edition of The Telegram had been cancelled on September 21, 2008, when the newspaper was still owned by Transcontinental.

This print and online news organization shut shortly after the town's daily newspaper, Fort McMurray Today, announced it would only print thrice weekly and post more content online. In an interview with CBC, the Connect's editor cited a "tough market place" and the Fort McMurray wildfire in May 2016 as causes of the paper's closure.
