Carleton University’s biweekly student newspaper was closed in April 2018 when it merged with Capital News Online to form Capital Current, a new more dynamic news website run by students at Carleton University’s School of Journalism and Communication. The newspaper published its final print edition on April 13, 2017, but local news continued to be published online until April 14, 2018. Centretown News was launched as a neighbourhood newsletter in the early 1970s by the Centretown Citizens Community Association. The partnership with Carleton University’s journalism program began soon after.
